I LOVE FLAT EARTHY COLOURS, TONES AND SUBJECT MATTER, AND MY PRODUCTS TEND TO REFLECT AN ENTHUSIASM FOR THE LAND AND ALL THAT IT AFFORDS US.
I am devoted to the art of needle felting and I design and make sculpted pieces and craft kits inspired by nature. As a British Wool licensee, I use only native breed wools in both my work and my kits. We have a rich and abundant heritage of sheep farming in the UK, and the diverse textures and naturally occurring hues of our native breed wools are eminently more suitable to sculptural needle felting than the more commonly used and often garishly and chemically dyed Merino Tops.
I am fortunate to live in the rural village of Trefriw in North Wales, which has historic links with the Welsh woollen industry and which still produces beautiful woven items in the local mill. From my garden workshop overlooking the Conwy Valley, I have ample inspiration from the spectacular views and teeming bird life resident in my beloved herb garden.
I have begun experimenting with a variety of homemade/homegrown natural plant dyes for fabric and wool and this has started to feed its way into my work. I love flat earthy colours, tones, and subject matter, and my products tend to reflect this enthusiasm for the land and all that it affords us.
